Sam Fresquez is an multimedia artist based in Phoenix, Arizona. She is currently an Undergraduate at Arizona State University working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Intermedia Art with a minor in Spanish. Her work has been exhibited Nationally and Internationally. In 2017 her work was shown at the Farmington Art Museum’s National Juried Exhibition, and she will be included in the 2018 Arizona Biennial at the Tucson Museum of Art. She is also currently the Artist in Residence at Xico Arte y Cultura where she curated her first group Exhibition this spring.
Fresquez uses her art as a tool to explore areas of tension and contradiction in her own life. Some of these areas including the Queer and Catholic community, and the history of Spanish in the United States education system. Her artwork explores the use of text and its ability to empower languages, and thoughts.
